is http://cafe.elharo.com![]() Topic: Java 7 and Beyond Description: 2007 will go down in history as the year Sun Microsystems gave up the reins of the Java platform, releasing it under an open source license to the Java developer community. In this talk Java developer Elliotte Rusty Harold predicts new directions for the Java platform, in everything from scripting to bug fixing to new syntax. We'll talk about various proposals for both the language and libraries including closures, type inference, I/O, and more. There will be door prizes (courtesy of O'Reilly and Sun Microsystems) followed by a networking dinner & drinks afterwards. The SCJP (Programmers) certification study group is on hiatus but will return in late spring. -DL Java Certification Study Group The Sun Certified Programmer for the Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition 1.5 (CX-311-055) Note: This study group link is for the previous session in 2006, stay tuned for announcements for a new session in 2007. The Sun Certified Programmer for Java 2 Platform certification exam is for programmers experienced in using the basic syntax and structure of the Java programming language. This study group is currently following the K&B Java 5 Certification book. We also will use the nycjava_net Yahoo group for online discussion and Q&A (to join stop by a meeting).
